Colossians 2:6
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
I received Christ as my savior when I was 9 1/2 and I will be 49 a week from today. That is a long time and I would love to be able to say that I have always walked in Him, but that is sadly not the case. I am, however, determined to rectify that and my desire is to be so firmly entrenched in the word of God that reaching for the Bible is done without thought; that prayer becomes an intrinsic part of who I am, not just to ask for things but to thank Him for His glorious wonders and works and provision for me. That is also my prayer for all of you who may happen across my blog. Learn and grow and be blessed of God.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 NASB

The Memorizing of John 15
I did really well the first week, but for week 2, I have sort of let life get in the way of my memory work. That just means that I will have to double up this week. I could use the excuse that I have to much going on, but I still find time to do other things. That says to me that I must work on my priorities. You would think that I would know this after all these years, but I must learn to put God first.

Hide His Word
For this group, we are memorizing John 15. The first week is verses 1 and 2. For I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch that is in Me that does not bear fruit, he takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. I am looking forward to having the entire chapter memorized. I used to memorize scripture all the time as a teenager, but as I got older I got out of the "habit". I hope to have more and more of God's word hidden in my heart as the year progresses.
Joy in Christ Summer Bible Study
I started out my study by writing the verses on a small yellow pad and then adding them to my journal with washi tape. I decided I did not like the way it looked so I took my Punctuate planner from B & N, cut down a composition book to fit, and will write my verses in there. I plan on redoing the dividers as soon as I decide how to label them.
Studying God's Word
I have recently joined several Facebook groups that I hope will encourage me to stay rooted in the Word of God. I hope that I can in some way be an encouragement to others there as well. I am a part of Planners for Christ, Hide His Word, and Joy in Christ Summer Study. I have recently joined several Facebook groups that I hope will encourage me to stay rooted in the Word of God. I hope that I can in some way be an encouragement to others there as well. I need to be more intentional and focused when it comes to studying and memorizing God's Word. I will posting here the things that I learn during my studies. I have also recently discovered the SOAP method (similar to inductive studies) of Bible study. It stands for Scripture (write out the scripture), Observation (write down things you observe about the text), Application (how you can apply the verse(s)), and Prayer (a written prayer to God about what you read). Through the Hide His Word group, I will be attempting to memorize John 15. I look forward to being in God's Word more.
